Self Defense Handgun Training – Do We Really Need It? — 2 Comments

  1. I like the idea of approaching this with the most appropriate mental awareness. Mental and emotional awareness are critical in these environments. It can be difficult to get into the right mindset, however, I agree that it is extremely important. Having the necessary skills is quite useless if one’s mind is not prepared. It is never too early to prepare the mind to be ready at any given time. I would add to your list, clarity of mind. One must not carry or use a handgun when under the influence. This can lead to disastrous outcomes. The twenty dollar bill wrapped around a coin is a great idea, not something I had thought of before reading this article.
Thanks very much for sharing this information. Proper use and proper mental awareness do not come second nature when in heated confrontations. Much training is needed. This article has already educated me beyond what I knew a few minutes ago. Thanks so much for taking time to write this.

    • Thank you very much for the great comments. I agree that clarity of mind is important. The law in most states allows for arrest of someone carrying a concealed gun while under the influence of either drugs or alcohol. In many jurisdictions it’seems a violation of law just to have a drink while carrying. I’m glad you got something out of reading this. My chief aim is to educate.
